Who this group is for
Perhaps you have a long-term client with newly emerging restrictive, binge, or purge behaviors that you are unsure how to address; Or maybe you are struggling to conceptualize the function of your clients' diet or over-exercise behaviors. It is common for providers who are not eating disorder specialists to feel overwhelmed when working with any level of disordered eating. This group is to help these providers feel more comfortable.
What to expect
The first 30 minutes of each meeting will be dedicated to education on topics including lesser known ED symptoms, underlying functions of disordered eating, applying common interventions to ED behaviors, considerations when treating queer and trans folks with EDs, and external resources to supplement your clients’ treatment. The second 30 minutes will be spent discussing cases voluntarily presented by group members.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in private practice where I specialize in eating disorders, personality disorders/attachment trauma, and anxiety. I also see clients through the group practice Eating Disorder Recovery Specialists. I have previously served as the Clinical Director at an eating disorder PHP, IOP, and outpatient clinic. I use relational, values-oriented, and skills-based therapies as needed to help clients feel safe, challenged, and motivated both in and out of the therapy room.
