If you find yourself navigating the complexities of caregiving, facing worries about your loved one’s health and abilities, encountering barriers to accessing necessary services, or planning for the long-term needs of your loved one, this group is for you. You may also be experiencing challenges with self-care, feeling the pressures of generation role reversal, dealing with resistance to care from your loved one, or grappling with anticipatory grief. This supportive environment aims to help you share your personal experiences, gain insights, and develop strategies to prevent burnout and enhance your well-being. If you are seeking a culturally-specific community of understanding peers and professional guidance to navigate these challenges, you will find this group to be a valuable resource.

What to expect

Participants in this therapy group can expect to gain a variety of specific benefits and skills aimed at enhancing their caregiving experience and overall well-being. Short-term benefits may include receiving monthly peer support, sharing unfiltered realities of caregiving, and exploring common challenges such as self-criticism, burnout, and resentment. Long-term outcomes may involve developing effective strategies for managing worries about loved ones' health and abilities, overcoming barriers to accessing services, and creating sustainable plans for long-term caregiving. Additionally, participants will learn techniques for self-care to prevent burnout, navigate generation role reversals, address resistance to care, and process anticipatory grief. Through this therapeutic process, clients can anticipate an increased sense of community support, improved coping skills, and a deeper understanding of their emotional journey as caregivers.

Additionally, my personal experience witnessing my own grandparents' end-of-life care needs enriches my approach with lived experience.
