What to expect
DBT is a form of therapy created by a psychologist with lived experience of mental health difficulties to help people struggling with their mental health to live full lives. It has distinct modules that focus on distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. My adapted version of DBT focuses on the experiences of neurodivergent people (Primarily ASD & ADHD), with an emphasis on understanding one’s neurodivergent traits, sensory regulation, learning to unmask and navigate social situations authentically, dealing with sensory overload, meltdown, shutdown, burnout, and finding self acceptance and pride in neurodivergence! This is a 2 hour group, in person in NYC, Thursdays 4:30-6:30 pm
Liliana is a therapist and researcher specializing in neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ identities. She is passionate about working with clients to deconstruct stigma and build lives worth living. Her work considers how intersections of systemic oppression can influence the ways we view ourselves, and seeks to shift the lens to one of self-acceptance and self-advocacy. She has worked extensively within the LGBTQIA+ and disability communities, and views membership to these communities as a privilege rather than a burden.
