my Story
My passion is helping people learn and apply evidence-based skills to reach their goals and reduce suffering. Through my compassionate and transparent style, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative therapeutic relationship while tailoring sessions and skills based on the individual's identities and experiences.
With a specialty in evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, CBASP, self-compassion, and mindfulness), I primarily work with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma symptoms, and Borderline Personality Disorder. My training experiences have focused on evidence-based treatments (Harbor-UCLA's Adult Outpatient CBT/DBT Program for my postdoctoral fellowship and VA Palo Alto Health Care System) and multicultural responsiveness. I continue to learn and develop my understanding and application of these modalities through being a part of a DBT consultation team, mentoring therapists in EBP's, and using the skills and interventions myself.
My approach to treatment is conceptualization-based with the goals of putting myself out of a job. With a strong understanding of the individual, I'm better able to adapt my style and interventions to meet the individual's needs and reinforce more effective behaviors and ways of communicating.
